Our Story

In the heart of India, where sarees fade but memories linger, we began with a simple truth: every thread has a tale.

Founder

The Thread That Started It All

In 2018, our founder watched as family's long-time maid tearfully sold her mother's wedding sari to pay for her son's school fees. That moment revealed the hidden value in what we discard and the painful choices marginalized communities face.

CultureSociety was born from this realization - that clothes discarded as 'old' carry lifetimes of memories, and that their value could be transformed into opportunities for those who need it most.

"We don't just sell clothes - we honor the lives they've lived and create new possibilities from their fabric."

Our Process

Collection with Care

We personally collect garments across Bhopal, recording each item's history from the donor. Many come from families upgrading wardrobes or clearing estates.

Thoughtful Restoration

Our team of local artisans carefully cleans, repairs, and sometimes reimagines each piece. We use natural dyes and traditional techniques to honor the garment's origins.

Purposeful Distribution

Select pieces enter our collection, with tags sharing their history. Others become school uniforms or winter blankets. All proceeds fund education for domestic workers' children.

Why It Matters

Bhopal generates over 50 tons of textile waste monthly, while many in our community struggle to afford basic necessities. We address both issues through circular fashion with compassion.

Environmental Impact

Extending a garment's life by just 9 months reduces its carbon footprint by 20-30%. Each item we save from landfills makes a difference.

Social Justice

Domestic workers often earn less than ₹10,000/month. Our program ensures their children don't miss school due to fees.

Cultural Preservation

Traditional textiles carry craftsmanship that's disappearing. By valuing these pieces, we help sustain artisan communities.

Economic Opportunity

We employ local women in restoration work, providing fair wages and skill development in textile arts.
